The former Blues captain responded directly to criticism on Instagram, pointing to his extensive background in the game.
Terry wrote: "I have every qualification going, I have three years coaching experience in the Premier League with Aston Villa."
The 45-year-old, who currently serves as a mentor within Chelsea's academy setup, holds a UEFA Pro License, the mandatory certification required to manage teams in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

He added: "On top of that nobody is more Chelsea than me, for us to be top again we need a top manager as yes that would rule me out but please don't say I'm under qualified!"

Terry also expressed his astonishment at Enzo Maresca's departure from the club, saying he had not anticipated it.

| PASpeaking on TikTok following the announcement, he said: "Enzo Maresca has just been sacked by Chelsea and to be honest I'm completely shocked, I didn't see it coming."
The academy coach noted visible friction between the Italian and the club's hierarchy in recent weeks, though he stressed he was not privy to internal matters.
Terry said: "There's clearly been tension between the manager and the owner and they've come to this decision."
He reflected that just weeks earlier, Chelsea had performed brilliantly against Barcelona, making the swift deterioration all the more surprising.

In the meantime, interim boss Calum McFarlane guided the team to a creditable 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Sunday, with Enzo Fernandez securing a late equaliser.
