The former Blues star has moved to dampen talk of a stunning return to Stamford Bridge

John Terry has revealed on TikTok that nobody from Chelsea has reached out to him about joining Calum McFarlane's backroom team following Liam Rosenior's departure.

The former Blues captain, who currently holds a part-time consultancy position within the club's academy, confirmed he remains in the dark about the interim coaching setup.

"I am not sure what Calum's backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message," Terry stated.

The Chelsea legend indicated he would carry on with his youth development duties and pledged his backing for McFarlane ahead of Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Leeds.

"We will all get behind Calum, he did a great job away against Man City previously and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do," he added.

McFarlane's appointment on Wednesday came after the club dismissed Rosenior following a dismal run of form spanning just over three months in charge.

The former head coach oversaw five consecutive Premier League losses without finding the net, culminating in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat.

The 40-year-old McFarlane previously stepped into the breach in January when Enzo Maresca unexpectedly left on New Year's Day, guiding the team to a 1-1 result at Manchester City.

He subsequently joined Rosenior's coaching staff but now returns to the top role on an interim basis until the season concludes.

Terry had expressed frustration back in February at being passed over for McFarlane's staff during that earlier caretaker spell, having collaborated with him across Chelsea's under-21 and under-18 sides.

Terry voiced significant anxiety about the direction of his former club, openly questioning whether any elite manager would consider taking the Chelsea job under current circumstances.

"I sit here worrying tonight about what is going to happen with our football club," he said.

The club legend highlighted several troubling factors, including restrictions on player recruitment and the prospect of selling key squad members.

"Is a real top manager going to come to Chelsea football club at the moment in the position we are in? Can't buy players, looking like we are going to have to sell potentially and that will be our best players, which is always tough," Terry explained.

He also predicted the Blues would miss out on European competition next term, adding: "We will not be playing in European football, I hope I am wrong."

Terry acknowledged the frustration felt by supporters, noting he had witnessed 17 managers depart during his time as Chelsea captain.

"Really, really frustrated and worried more importantly. I feel the anger, feel the frustration of the Chelsea supporters," he said.

The Blues dropped to eighth in the table on Wednesday after Bournemouth secured a 2-2 draw with Leeds, further damaging their Champions League hopes.

Supporters had made their displeasure known during Tuesday's defeat, directing anger at both the ownership and Rosenior.

In announcing the head coach's exit, Chelsea stated they would undertake a period of "self-reflection" before making a permanent appointment.

The club expressed gratitude for Rosenior's professionalism but acknowledged results had fallen below required standards with much still to play for this campaign.
