Jamie and Rebekah Vardy’s Italian villa is thought to have been raided by a gang of robbers who stole valuables worth £80,000.

The iconic England striker departed the UK for Italy in September 2025 to join newly promoted Serie A club Cremonese after his contract with Leicester City expired.

The pair bought a £2million villa on picturesque Lake Garda in the Italian Alps.

The robbery occurred during his 3-1 defeat in Rome on Sunday.

A police source said: "We think the gang have been watching him and his family and timed the break-in to coincide when he was away in Rome."

The thieves broke in through a window and made off with watches, jewellery, cash, and other high-value objects, including a Patek Philippe watch, according to the publication.

Captain Giacomo Tessarolo, of the local carabinieri police in Salo, said: "We have CCTV which shows one individual entering the house through a window that was left open.

"They were on the premises for several minutes before escaping with the watch and several other high-value items."

The source confirmed to the Daily Mail that the babysitter was present but not Vardy's celebrity wife.

They added: "The theft was discovered when some of Vardy's friends returned to the house and found items on the floor and it had evidently been broken into."

Vardy spent more than a decade as the face of Leicester City, including winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and a Golden Boot award.

The English cult hero was also known for his record-breaking scoring streak, and his longevity as one of the Premier League’s elite forwards even as he pushed into his mid-30s.

His final season with Leicester City concluded with the milestone of both a 500th appearance and a 200th goal.

Since being in Italy, the striker has played eight times.

He scored twice, picking up two yellow cards, with his first goal coming last month against Atalanta.

Vardy is just the latest target of footballers to have their homes broken into by gangs, with other high-profile names including Raheem Sterling and Alexander Isak.

Sterling became a victim of a second break-in when masked men broke into his house while the Chelsea forward and his family were inside.

Thames Valley Police continue to investigate the incident and have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.

The Premier League winger armed himself with a kitchen knife to defend his young family after the masked burglars broke into his Berkshire home, according to sources.

The Chelsea player is understood to have seized a knife from a kitchen block before courageously confronting the masked gang.
