England’s record goalscorer joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023

Harry Kane has been compared to ex-England boss Steve McLaren after "putting on a foreign accent" in a clip shared by Bayern Munich.

Kane, 31, was filmed in an ice bath following the German champions' 10-0 demolition of New Zealand side Auckland in the Club World Cup.

When asked whether he enjoys taking ice baths, the ex-Spurs striker responded: “I think in this weather, I like it.

“It’s so hot here it’s like, refreshing. When it’s in the winter, it’s tougher.”

Fans were quick to take to social media to compare Kane to other Britains who had moved abroad.

One fan said: “He’s gone full Joey Barton.”

Another wrote: “Move over Barton and [Steve] McClaren, there's a new player in town.”

It is common for people to adapt their accents in order to be understood easier, and Kane is not the first example.

When managing FC Twente, former Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren infamously put on a Dutch accent.

Discussing their draw against Arsenal in the Champions League, he loosely adapted his familiar Yorkshire accent.

“We have a young team, and to experience big games… Champions League… Arsenal… at home… the Emirates,” he said, giving the accent his best effort.

McClaren enjoyed a successful first spell in the Netherlands, winning the club their first ever Eredivisie title while becoming the first English manager to win a top division title since Bryan Robson at Porto in 1996.

During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho adopted a similar accent to his England teammate Kane, while controversial figure Joey Barton took on a French accent during his time in Marseille.

Kane also confirmed that he has been taking weekly German lessons and hopes to speak the language fluently in the future.

Since his £100million from Tottenham in 2023, the 31-year-old has scored 82 goals in just 92 games in the German capital.

In addition, he put an end to his career-long trophy drought by winning the Bundesliga this year, scoring 26 league goals while he was at it.

Now, Kane and Vincent Kompany’s Bayern will be looking to add to that title in the new-look Club World Cup.

Despite England’s top talisman failing to hit the back of the net, Bayern made the perfect start after they beat Auckland 10-0 on Sunday.

The German side play Boca Juniors on Saturday at 2am.
