Tottenham are working to persuade Roberto De Zerbi to take charge at the club before the current campaign concludes, following the dismissal of Igor Tudor, with Glenn Hoddle emerging as a candidate as well.
The north London side find themselves hunting for their fourth head coach within a period of just 295 days after Tudor's departure.
De Zerbi, the 46-year-old Italian who has also been connected with the Manchester United vacancy, ranks among the leading candidates for the position.
However, the former Brighton and Marseille boss is believed to prefer waiting until the summer before taking on a new role.

Despite these complications, Spurs continue their efforts to convince him to accept the role immediately.
One potential candidate has already removed himself from contention for the vacant position.

"In the last few days and weeks, I have been increasingly linked with various clubs," the 56-year-old Austrian said.
"However, as I already said immediately after my time at Monaco, I fundamentally want to work as a head coach again at the beginning of the new season at the earliest. My stance on this topic has not changed since then."

The club are now contemplating an extraordinary move for Hoddle, widely regarded as one of Tottenham's finest ever players.
Hoddle, now 68, last held a managerial position when he departed Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2006, making it nearly two decades since he was in the dugout.
The former England manager has indicated his readiness to assist the club during this turbulent period.
Spurs have spent the past week assessing their options following a damaging loss to Nottingham Forest that intensified fears of relegation.
Hoddle previously managed Tottenham for two and a half years from March 2001 and later served briefly on Harry Redknapp's coaching staff at Queens Park Rangers.

Sean Dyche currently leads the bookmakers' odds for the position but has distanced himself from taking the role.
Beyond Hoddle, other former Tottenham managers have offered their services, with Tim Sherwood and Harry Redknapp both signalling their availability to help.
Chris Hughton and Ryan Mason, who possess Spurs connections alongside more recent coaching experience, are currently without employment and have been mentioned as possibilities.
The club remain hesitant to offer any incoming manager a lengthy contract, preferring to keep their options open for the summer transfer window.
