The Red Devils are determined to bolster their squad

Manchester United will only sign a new goalkeeper if Andre Onana departs amid speculation linking the club with Paris Saint-Germain star Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Red Devils have made three big signings so far this summer, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko arriving from Wolves, Brentford and RB Leipzig respectively.

United are determined to add to their squad further, with Ruben Amorim eager to improve on last season's shambolic 15-th placed finish.

And while they were previously linked with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, Donnarumma now appears to be the goalkeeper on their radar.

According to The Athletic, however, United will only move for a new shot-stopper if Onana departs.

There currently appears to be no chance of that happening, with the Cameroon international lacking suitors.

United thought Onana would be the perfect replacement for David De Gea when they signed the 29-year-old from Inter Milan two years ago.

Yet the former Ajax star has struggled during his time in English football, with a series of high-profile mistakes casting uncertainty over his long-term future at the club.

Donnarumma was nothing short of sensational for PSG last term as the club won the treble under Luis Enrique.

However, with PSG signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille earlier this week, there's now a chance the 26-year-old leaves the Parc des Princes.

Donnarumma's contract is due to expire in 2026 and the former AC Milan star is yet to agree to a new deal.

But he won't be forced out and is willing to wind down his contract if a sufficient offer fails to arrive, despite being keen on the Premier League.

Another player on United's radar is Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils have been holding talks via intermediaries as they assess their chances of signing the Cameroonian this window.

Brighton would prefer to keep hold of the 21-year-old for another year at least, with Baleba emerging as a key player for them over the past two years.

Yet United could test their resolve, with the club fully aware that competition for his signature is likely to be fierce in 12 months' time.

United will only bid for the youngster if they believe there is a fair chance of success, the report says.

However, sales will be key.

Alejandro Garnacho is one player who could depart, with the Argentina international eager to leave Old Trafford for Chelsea.

United want £50million to let their academy graduate go, with Chelsea currently reluctant to meet that steep asking price.

Antony is another player who could be sold, having toiled ever since his arrival from Ajax three years ago.

United want to get rid of Jadon Sancho, who has been linked with European titans Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

And Rasmus Hojlund is another player who may depart, particularly in the wake of Sesko's arrival.
