The broadcaster gave insight into the season that Match of the Day has had since Gary Lineker's departure

Match of the Day host Gabby Logan shared that people are really enjoying the programme and coverage, noting that "people don't seem to have seen much difference" since Gary Lineker was fired.

The broadcaster took over alongside Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates after Lineker hosted the show for 26 years, before being sacked for sharing an antisemitic post on social media.

Logan explained that viewers are enjoying the show with the new hosts and have not noticed many changes since Lineker's dismissal.

"It's been a great season and all seems to have gone really well, it's raced by," she said.

"People seem to really be enjoying it. I think that's the biggest compliment to the three of us that have taken over.

"I think people don't seem to have seen much a difference in a sense that it's the same show and we do the same kind of things - it's been great."

Logan will lead the BBC's World Cup coverage in the summer and be the first woman to do so in Britain.

She was one of the leading female sports broadcasters, with several others coming through, including Laura Woods on ITV.

Logan said: "I've got Kelly as well, so there are quite a few women around doing the World Cup, which is good.

"There is so much football on our screens now and so much live sport, so the industry has changed dramatically with many more channels and ways to broadcast.

"As well as more women in the industry at all levels, we have influencers broadcasting on YouTube, podcasts and social media, which all provide many routes to enter."

Giving her perspective on England's chances, Logan continued: "I think people are rightly playing them down, and I think that's probably a good thing.

"I think it's better not to be talked up as a favourite, maybe they could exceed expectations.

"It feels like they are very muted in terms of people's expectations, but that's not a bad thing for England to be underdogs."

England journey off to Florida in early June for their pre-World Cup training camp.

They will face New Zealand and Costa Rica in a couple of friendlies before kicking off the group stages.

The Three Lions will start their tournament against Croatia on June 17, then face Ghana six days later and Panama on June 27.

All of the Three Lions group stage games will be played in the US, which is hosting alongside Canada and Mexico.

The Football Association must submit the 26-man squad to Fifa by May 31, but can make changes to outfield players for medical reasons up until 24 hours before the Group L opener against Croatia.
