Evangelos Marinakis' preferred choice to replace Nuno Espirito Santo as Nottingham Forest boss is former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
The club last night made the decision to relieve Nuno of his duties following a turbulent summer off the field and an unconvincing start to the new Premier League season.
Nuno worked wonders at the City Ground last season, guiding Forest to seventh in the Premier League table. That feat was made all the more remarkable given the club had only just avoided relegation in the previous campaign, where they picked up 32 points.
But with the former Wolves boss openly admitting that his relationship with Marinakis had weakened, the writing had been on the wall for a number of weeks.

Forest confirmed Nuno's exit with a statement published on their official website.
"Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as Head Coach," they said.
"The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club.
"As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."

According to the Telegraph, Forest have three managers under consideration.
But it's former Spurs boss Postecoglou who is widely expected to be given the keys to the club, with the Australian still available following his departure from the north London side earlier this summer.
After Bayer Leverkusen sacked Erik ten Hag last week, Postecoglou was tipped to come under consideration at the German side.
However, the Bundesliga titans have since hired Kasper Hjulmand instead - effectively giving Marinakis a free run to his top target.

Jose Mourinho is also on Nottingham Forest's shortlist to replace Nuno Espirito Santo

The two other managers on Forest's shortlist are Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers.
Mourinho has plenty of Premier League experience, having previously managed Chelsea (twice), Manchester United and Tottenham earlier in his career.
The 62-year-old was sacked as Fenerbahce boss at the end of August following the Turkish Super Lig side's failure to qualify for the Champions League league phase.
As for Rodgers, the Northern-Irishman has previously fared well with the likes of Liverpool and Leicester.
He is currently in charge of Celtic, though is under pressure following their own failure to make it past the Champions League qualification phase.
Nuno's departure from Forest comes amid a shaky start to the new season, with the club winning just one of their three league matches so far.
They beat Brentford 3-1 on the opening day, with Chris Wood bagging a brace and Dan Ndoye also on target.

After that, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace.
Ismaila Sarr put the Eagles ahead at Selhurst Park, though Callum Hudson-Odoi struck for Forest to earn a draw.
Nuno's last game was one to forget, however. They were emphatically thumped by Graham Potter's struggling West Ham side, with Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Callum Wilson all on target for the Hammers.
