GB News takes a look at five things learned from England's latest poor showing

England faced their first loss to an African side as Senegal beat Thomas Tuchel's side 3-1 this evening.

England never really got going in the game, having scored early with a scrappy chance that Harry Kane capitalised on, but that was it for the English side that saw 10 changes from the sloppy 1-0 win over Andorra.

Thomas Tuchel's side were outplayed throughout the entire game as Senegal ran rings around the defenders and constantly had Dean Henderson on his toes.

The first half saw goals from either side as they went into the half all square, but in the second half there was no forward pressure from England who were eventually overrun by the quality of Senegal.

And once they took the lead, they never looked back.

Jude Bellingham nearly salvaged something in the final 10 minutes as he muddled in a chance from a corner but it was ruled out by VAR.

After taking too long to take a free kick with mere moments left in the game, Senegal went from end to end and put the game to bed in stoppage time.

GB News takes a look at five things learned from England's latest poor showing.

Chalobah is going to be a star for England:

Trevoh Chalobah started for the first time in an England shirt and out in an impressive performance for the youngster.

He started the season in what many called Chelsea's 'bomb squad' but his hard work has got him into the England squad and performing well in it.

He was one of the brightest players on the pitch for England and will certainly be making more appearances leading up to the World Cup.

Kyle Walker's England career may be over:

The defender has already fallen out of favour with Manchester City, having spent half of this season on loan to AC Milan.

His loan offer is said to have a £4.2million buy-clause, according to Sky Sports, however, it is unknown as to whether AC Milan will take up the option to buy.

Walker has had a long tenure at right back for England but that time may be coming to an end. Walker was solely responsible for the goal scored by Senegal to level the game in the first half. He was late to react to the ball into the box and was unable to recover before the ball was in the back of the net, a move that Roy Keane called "pure laziness."

With an unknown future at club level and struggling for his country it seems unlikely we will be seeing Walker as the first pick for much longer.

England need to do more:

After a quick start and a scrappy goal, England were not able to show much for the next hour of play, at the same time Senegal were able to score two goals and had Dean Henderson under pressure during the whole game.

England showed sparks but no sustained periods of dominance throughout the game, and for most of it were outplayed by a Senegal team who were running the defence ragged.

Taking Harry Kane off after 60 minutes into the game at 1-1 seemed to show the conservative nature Tuchel took into this friendly, and with so little international playing time before the World Cup starts, England are not appearing to be a force to be reckoned with.

The backup keeper position is still up for grabs:

Dean Henderson did not have a good night against Senegal, this game was his chance to show Thomas Tuchel that he could be the replacement for Jordan Pickford as and when he calls time on his England career, however, tonight's performance did not show that.

He made a series of routine saves throughout the first half but then was beaten fairly easily with the two goals that were scored against him, with the keeper yet to get a clean sheet in an England shirt.

With the run-up to the World Cup, the backup spot will be well and truly up for grabs.

Bellingham cannot save England once more:

Jude Bellingham very nearly saved the game for England as he fumbled in a corner from close range to level the game, the goal was later ruled out by VAR for a handball and there was nothing more the Real Madrid star could do after coming on a substitute.

Thomas Tuchel made 10 changes from the side that crawled over the line 1-0 against Andorra, but a very similar England performance occurred.

Ivan Toney was brought on for the final moments of the game but it appeared to be too little too late from Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel now has a lot of work to do between now and England's next World Cup qualifier in September.
