Crystal Palace are desperate to complete a move for Brennan Johnson

Crystal Palace have struck a deal worth approximately £35 million with Tottenham Hotspur for winger Brennan Johnson, though the 24-year-old has yet to commit to the move.

Negotiations between the two clubs progressed rapidly over the past day, with a fee now settled.

However, the Wales international is weighing up his options before making any final decision on his future.

Bournemouth represent alternative suitors for Johnson, with reports suggesting they view him as a potential replacement for Antoine Semenyo, who appears set to join Manchester City after the Premier League champions trigger his £65 million release clause.

Should Johnson approve the switch to Selhurst Park, he would bolster Oliver Glasner's attacking options as Palace navigate both domestic and European fixtures.

The move would come despite Johnson netting the decisive goal in Tottenham's Europa League final triumph against Manchester United in May, a victory that ended the club's 17-year wait for silverware.

Yet that memorable contribution proved insufficient to secure his place under new manager Thomas Frank, who has afforded the winger limited opportunities since taking charge.

Johnson has started just six Premier League matches this campaign, with summer arrival Mohamed Kudus largely claiming his position on the right wing.

Dejan Kulusevski, another option in that role, has been sidelined since May following knee surgery.

Frank is expected to address Johnson's situation when he speaks to the media later on Tuesday.

The sale would rank as the fourth-largest in Tottenham's history, trailing only the departures of Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker.

Spurs would nonetheless take a significant financial hit on the transaction, having paid Nottingham Forest £47.5 million for Johnson's services in September 2023.

The club's willingness to accept such a loss underscores how far the winger has fallen in the pecking order under Frank, who is looking to reshape his squad during the January window.

Johnson is understood to be contemplating whether to sacrifice Champions League football at Spurs for a move to Palace, who are currently competing in the Conference League for the first time in their history.

Johnson came through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest, where he played an instrumental part in their promotion to the top flight during the 2021-22 campaign.

His performances earned him a move to north London, where he contributed five goals and 11 assists during his maiden season under Ange Postecoglou, helping Spurs secure Europa League qualification.

The following campaign proved his most prolific, with Johnson finishing as the club's leading marksman on 18 goals across all competitions.

Five of those strikes came in European competition, culminating in his match-winning effort in the final against United.

This term, he has managed four goals from 20 appearances, featuring on both flanks.
