Cristiano Ronaldo has urged the media to reduce pressure on Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, insisting the 17-year-old must be allowed to develop without excessive scrutiny.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner made his plea ahead of Sunday's Nations League final in Munich, where his Portugal side will face Spain and their young star.

"What I really ask for him [is for] you to let him grow, not to put him under so much pressure," Ronaldo said.
The veteran forward stressed that reducing expectations would benefit football as a whole, allowing supporters to appreciate Yamal's abilities for years to come.
"[It's] for the good of football, so we can enjoy a talent like this for many years. We need to leave him alone," he added.

"We need to let him grow his own way and enjoy a talent like this for many years, and that's what I hope."
He specifically addressed the media's role in the youngster's development, stating: "So I would like to take the pressure off him, leave him alone, and it's something that the media that's the way the media can help him develop his career."
Yamal has already achieved remarkable success despite his young age, securing two La Liga titles with Barcelona.

The right winger's influence extends beyond club football, having played a crucial role in Spain's European Championship triumph last year.
