The Portugal international produced a stunning acrobatic effort on Sunday during Al-Nassr's 4-1 win over Al-Khaleej

Cristiano Ronaldo wound back time on Sunday, with the 40-year-old netting a sensational overhead kick as Al-Nassr continued their charge towards the Saudi Pro League title with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Al-Khaleej.

The Portugal international, gracing the field for the first time since meeting Donald Trump at the White House last week, scored his sensational acrobatic effort in the 96th minute of the contest.

Ronaldo is yet to win a trophy at Al-Nassr since his move on a free transfer following his release from Manchester United in 2022.

But his team have now won all nine of their league games this term to open up a four-point lead over defending champions and fierce rivals Al-Hilal at the summit.

Al-Nassr were well in control before their talisman's strike, with Joao Felix, Wesley and Sadio Mane all finding the net.

Murad Al-Hawsawi netted Al-Khaleej's only goal, while the visitors also saw Dimitrios Kourbelis sent off in stoppage time.

Ronaldo bagged a remarkable overhead kick in 2018 while playing for Real Madrid at Juventus, an effort that is widely regarded as one of the best goals of all time.

Now, seven years on, history has repeated itself - with fans left in awe on social media.

A second said: "You are simply the best player on this planet!"

Another opined: "What is your age???? King of football."

And a fourth remarked: "Bro forgot he's 40."

Ronaldo was playing for the first time since his visit to the White House, where he met Trump with the pair posing for pictured together in the Oval Office.

He initially travelled to the United States as part of a Saudi delegation due to his role as an unofficial ambassador for the Middle-Eastern nation.

Ronaldo brought his fiancee, Georgina Rodriguez, with him for the special trip.

Trump, addressing the A-listers at the White House, lavished praise on Ronaldo and joked that his son loved him even more due to his decision to invite the veteran along.

"My son is a big fan of Ronaldo," said the US President.

"Barron got to meet him and I think he respects his father a little bit more now - just the fact that I introduced you.

"So I just want to thank you both for being here."

Meanwhile, some critics blasted Ronaldo's decision to meet Trump. But the football icon's older sister, Katia Aveiro, hit back over the weekend with a fiery video on social media.

Speaking in the clip, she fumed: “He only needed hard work. Something that many of his critics only know by hearing about.

“He visits the White House, and suddenly it’s a nuclear emotional explosion!

“Hypocrites, you’re all hypocrites! Suddenly, such a huge hysteria breaks out, as if Cristiano had just announced the end of the world.

"A visit to the White House becomes, in some people’s minds, a diplomatic crime.”

Continuing her rant, she added: “For 20 years, he has carried Portugal on his shoulders.

"He came from poverty, and he built an empire without any shortcuts. Do you really think he will lose a single neuron worrying because a few outraged people decided to pretend [it is a] scandal?”
