The Denmark star has collapsed again on the pitch

Christian Eriksen has suffered another collapse on the pitch, this time during Denmark's friendly fixture against Ukraine.

The 34-year-old midfielder, who previously played for both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, was seen clutching his chest moments before he fell to the ground.

Television cameras immediately cut away from the distressing scene. Medical personnel sprinted onto the field to provide assistance while his teammates gathered in a protective circle around him.

Officials subsequently called off the match entirely, with Eriksen transported from the venue by ambulance whilst remaining conscious throughout.

The Danish Football Association released a statement confirming the midfielder's condition.

"Christian Eriksen is conscious and feeling well according to the circumstances. The match has been called off," the governing body announced.

Supporters present at the stadium responded by singing chants in solidarity with the stricken player as medical staff attended to him on the turf.

At the point when play was halted, Denmark held a 2-1 advantage. Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu and full-back Joakim Maehle had both found the net for the hosts.

Ukraine's Viktor Tsygankov had reduced the deficit shortly before the interval.

This incident marks the second time Eriksen has experienced such a medical emergency during an international match.

Five years ago, whilst representing Denmark against Finland at the European Championship, he suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the playing surface.

Team medics administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene before he was urgently transferred to hospital, where doctors managed to stabilise his condition.

Following that life-threatening episode, surgeons implanted a defibrillator device into his heart.

Against considerable odds, the midfielder made an extraordinary comeback to professional football just eight months after the terrifying incident in Copenhagen.
