Alejandro Garnacho swapped Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge back in the summer after falling out with Ruben Amorim

Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has reignited tensions with Manchester United supporters after clashing with a fan on social media following Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 21-year-old winger made a high-profile £40million switch from United to Chelsea in the summer after falling out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.

But his much-anticipated return to Old Trafford ended in frustration as Enzo Maresca left him on the bench for the entire match.

Garnacho was subjected to loud boos from the home crowd during his warm-up, a reception that underlined the sour note on which he departed the Red Devils.

The hostility spilled over online when a supporter mocked Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, after he posted a photo of himself and the Chelsea star flying by private jet.

“September 20th? Yeah hold that you f***ing freaks,” the fan wrote, referencing Chelsea’s defeat.

Roberto responded sharply: “You weigh 150kg, go to the f***ing gym instead of wasting your time texting me.”

It is not the first time Roberto has courted controversy.

During Garnacho’s time at Old Trafford, he was accused of leaking team news on social media — an allegation he has denied — and came under fire again after United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham last season.

Garnacho had been a key figure throughout United’s run to the final, starting every knockout match including both legs of their semi-final against Athletic Bilbao.

But in the showpiece game he was left on the bench until the closing stages, coming on with United chasing an equaliser.

Roberto later took to Instagram to vent his frustration, accusing Amorim of “throwing him under the bus”.

“Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals last two finals,” he wrote.

“Just to be on the pitch 19 mins and get thrown under the bus. Wow.”

Speaking after that defeat, Garnacho admitted it had been a difficult campaign.

“Our season was s**t,” he said bluntly, refusing to mince his words after United finished 15th in the Premier League table and failed to win any silverware.

“We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things.

“When you don’t score goals, you always need more. Until we reached the final, I played every round.

“And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”

Chelsea’s decision not to use Garnacho against his former club will only add to the intrigue around his Stamford Bridge venture, with Blues fans eager to see him replicate the explosive form that once made him one of United’s brightest young stars.

He could be involved when the Blues lock horns with Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
