The Brazil international was well off the pace on Sunday as the Red Devils crashed to defeat

Casemiro's wife has taken aim at critics of the Manchester United star following their 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

The Red Devils crashed to a nightmare defeat at Old Trafford, with Luis Diaz bagging a brace and Mohamed Salah also on target.

While there were many bad performers on the day for United, Casemiro was the worst of the lot.

The 32-year-old, who was linked with a move away in the summer transfer window only to end up staying, made mistakes for both of Diaz's goals - sloppily giving the ball away.

Casemiro was hooked at half time after his flat display, with the Brazil international replaced by youngster Toby Collyer.

Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were all critical of the Samba star both during and after the showdown.

But Casemiro's wife, Anna Mariana Casemiro, has now sent a pointed message to those taking aim at her husband.

The black and white image shows all the trophies Casemiro has won throughout his career, with his five Champions League titles all visible.

Casemiro won those during his time at Real Madrid, where he established himself as one of the best midfielders of his generation.

Fast-forward to now, however, and the United star is facing a huge fight to turn his form around.

Casemiro was retained at United despite clubs from Saudi Arabia showing interest. However, with the fallen giants recruiting Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, it's unclear if he'll continue to be a regular starter going forward.

United boss Erik ten Hag was asked about his midfielder after the chastening defeat to Liverpool.

He said he hooked Casemiro at the interval because the team 'needed it'.

"It is what the team needed. You know when you are 2-0 down against Liverpool you have to take more risks, it will be open," he told Sky Sports.

"When you are losing you have to take more risks.

"I have to give compliments to the team. You have to keep fighting and sticking together."

"He's a great player. We will continue this season to improve the team and the players.

"He improved and has shown so often that he is a great character. We all have seen great moments from him and him be decisive in midfield.
