The England international has committed his future to the Gunners

Bukayo Saka has put pen to paper on a new long-term agreement with Arsenal that will keep him at the Emirates until 2031.

The England international's fresh five-year contract elevates him to the position of the club's top earner, with his weekly wages now surpassing the £300,000 mark.

The deal represents a significant coup for Mikel Arteta's side as they pursue their first piece of silverware since lifting the FA Cup nearly six years ago.

At 24, the winger has effectively pledged the prime years of his career to the north London outfit.

Discussions surrounding the contract extension had been underway for close to 12 months before reaching a conclusion.

The 24-year-old gave his verbal commitment to remaining at the club back in January, paving the way for the formal agreement to be finalised.

Saka's previous arrangement, signed in 2023, had been set to run until 2027.

This latest renewal ensures the academy graduate will spend what should be his most productive seasons in an Arsenal shirt.

The significance of retaining Saka speaks for itself, outweighing even the £250million Arsenal invested in bringing eight new signings to the club during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal's title credentials are underlined by their current standing, sitting four points ahead of their nearest rivals at the Premier League summit.

Arteta's men are competing across multiple competitions simultaneously, with an EFL Cup final showdown against Manchester City awaiting them in March.

The Gunners have also secured passage to the Champions League knockout rounds, maintaining their European ambitions.

Domestically, they remain in contention for the FA Cup, having progressed to the fifth round of the competition.

This season, Saka has contributed seven goals across 33 outings for the club, with much of Arsenal's attacking threat channelled through the right flank where he operates.

Saka's extension forms part of a deliberate strategy by the club to lock in their most valuable assets on extended terms.

During the summer, Arsenal secured the futures of defenders William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, alongside emerging talents Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, all on lengthy contracts.

The winger's connection with supporters and his progression through the youth ranks make him virtually irreplaceable within the squad.

Beyond club commitments, Saka faces a pivotal summer representing Thomas Tuchel's England at the World Cup.

Having produced statistics comparable to elite wingers across European football, further development remains possible as he enters his peak years.
