Newcastle United emerged as serious contenders for Sesko's signature, submitting multiple offers to Leipzig.
However, the striker communicated his clear preference for a switch to Old Trafford over St James' Park.
The forward's goalscoring prowess at Leipzig has been notable, with 39 goals registered across 87 matches for the German club. His consistent performances in the Bundesliga attracted attention from several top European sides.
Reports indicate that despite Newcastle's persistent pursuit and competitive proposals, Sesko remained determined to join United. The Magpies even offered the forward more money - but he only had eyes for Old Trafford.
The acquisition represents United's third significant attacking reinforcement this summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
The club's expenditure has now reached approximately £200 million during the current transfer window.
This substantial investment demonstrates United's commitment to bolstering their offensive capabilities under manager Ruben Amorim.

Benjamin Sesko favours a move to Old Trafford
| PASesko's arrival adds further depth to United's forward options, complementing the earlier acquisitions as the club reshapes its attacking department ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Reports suggest Sesko has agreed to reduce his wage demands to facilitate the transfer, despite Newcastle offering a more substantial salary package. The striker's representatives, headed by Elvis Basanovic, have also reportedly decreased their commission to help complete the deal.
United have also completed the signing of defender Diego Leon earlier this year, further strengthening Amorim's squad across multiple positions ahead of the new season.
