Former BBC football pundit Garth Crooks received a six-month driving ban at Lavender Hill magistrates' court yesterday after accumulating 12 points on his licence.
The retired broadcaster was caught speeding, adding three more points to the nine he already held for two previous speeding offences and a traffic signal violation.
This triggered an automatic disqualification under totting-up rules.
Crooks, who was awarded the OBE in 1999, told the court he was "retired" and receiving a £118,000 annual pension.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United striker became a familiar face on BBC television, presenting Football Focus and appearing as a pundit on Match of the Day.
The former pundit complained that the speed camera that caught him was hidden from view.

However, magistrates at Lavender Hill rejected this argument.
JPs told the court that "the limit applies at all times and not just when a camera is spotted."
The latest offence pushed Crooks over the 12-point threshold, leaving magistrates with no discretion but to impose the mandatory six-month disqualification.
The totting-up procedure is designed to remove repeat offenders from the roads.
Upon leaving court, Crooks attempted to avoid publicity by covering his face with his jacket after spotting a press photographer outside.

The six-month disqualification represents a significant inconvenience for the 66-year-old, who built his broadcasting career after retiring from professional football.
Crooks enjoyed a successful playing career with clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United before transitioning to television work.
His OBE, awarded in 1999, recognised his contributions to football and broadcasting.
