A former Barcelona player has been hospitalised following a severe dog attack that left him with genital injuries requiring medical attention.
Carles Perez, aged 27, was walking his own pet when the incident occurred.
The footballer, who currently plays for Greek club Aris Thessaloniki, sustained serious injuries to his genital area whilst attempting to separate his pet from another dog.
The attack resulted in Perez being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Medical staff treated the footballer's injuries with six stitches. The severity of the wounds meant Perez remained under hospital care for more than 24 hours following the attack.
Perez developed through Barcelona's youth system before making his first-team breakthrough in 2019. During his time at the Catalan club, he featured in 13 matches for the senior squad.
The Spanish winger later moved away from Barcelona and has had spells at Roma, Celta Vigo and Getafe throughout his career.

Medical professionals treating Perez contemplated surgical intervention for the affected region, according to Prime Sport. The extent of the damage sustained during the canine attack prompted doctors to evaluate whether an operation would be necessary.
Hospital staff provided round-the-clock observation whilst the former Barcelona player recovered from the traumatic encounter with the aggressive animal.
Supporters have expressed their concern for the injured footballer through social media platforms.
One fan posted: "Wishing a healthy recovery to former Barça player Carles Perez, who's in serious condition after being bitten by a dog near his genitals."
Others joined in offering support, with another writing: "That's very bad. Wishing him speedy recovery."
A third supporter commented: "Sounds scary, can't even imagine what he might be going through. Hope he is alright and recovers well."
Perez has won three trophies throughout his career so far.
