Arne Slot has confirmed that he wants to be the man to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and is confident of a breakthrough in negotiations.
The Reds have been on the hunt for Klopp's successor since he announced earlier this year of his plans to end his contract early.
Xabi Alonso was originally seen as the top target before he confirmed plans to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim then emerged as the favourite before reports emerged of Liverpool's interest in Slot.

The 45-year-old Dutchman has now spoken out on the rumours and confirmed talks are taking place between the two clubs.
“It is no secret that I’d like to become new Liverpool manager, my decisions is clear,” Slot told ESPN Netherlands.
“Feyenoord and Liverpool are in talks to negotiate, I’m waiting to see what will come out of it.
“I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, I have every confidence in that [happening].”
It was only last year when Slot signed a new three-year contract with Feyenoord after leading them to the Eredivisie title.
Feyenoord cancelled Slot's scheduled press conference on Wednesday ahead of their match against Go Ahead Eagles.
Slot was expected to face a barrage of questions about his future, but his comments ahead of Thursday's match appear to indicate an agreement is close.
There's been some suggestions that Slot could be announced as Klopp's successor by the weekend.

Slot's seemingly imminent appointment as Liverpool manager has earned a mixed reaction from the club's supporters.
Former Anfield star Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool's decision to go with Slot shows a lack of options elsewhere.
He said: "From Feyenoord to Liverpool is a huge jump and I think it shows at this moment that there's probably a dearth of real top managers out there, when you look at who Liverpool are going for.
"Initially it was Xabi Alonso - it's only his first full season as a manager - then there was talk of Ruben Amorim from Sporting, who's only 39. Now Arne Slot is the favourite."

He added: "I don't think it's like Benitez coming in, or Klopp.
"Benitez coming in on the back of two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup, or Klopp winning a couple of league titles and getting to a Champions League final. Liverpool were actually in a different space then.
"That Liverpool team, certainly under Benitez that I was part of, we were the team trying to qualify for the top four. The same with Klopp when he came in.
"But Liverpool are in a different era now. They actually fancy themselves to challenge for the Premier League every season. Next season, in the Champions League they'd expect to get to the quarter-finals at least.
"I think it's a huge jump but he's obviously a great coach with a great track record so far. We'll see."
