Allan Saint-Maximin has parted ways with Club America through mutual agreement after the former Newcastle winger alleged his children were subjected to racist abuse in Mexico.

The 28-year-old French attacker, who became a beloved figure during his four-year spell at St James' Park between 2019 and 2023, disclosed earlier this week that his family had been targeted.

His departure from the Mexican club comes after he shared a deeply emotional message on social media addressing the alleged incidents.

The winger had joined Club America in August and featured 15 times for the side, contributing three goals and two assists before the relationship came to an abrupt end.

In his Instagram post, Saint-Maximin wrote: "The problem isn't skin colour, it's the colour of people's thoughts."

The winger stated he had grown accustomed to facing attacks himself, learning to respond to hostility whether 'subtle, hidden, or overt'. However, he made clear that targeting his children crossed an unacceptable line.

"Protecting my children is my priority, and I will fight with all my might to ensure they are respected and loved, regardless of their background or skin colour," he declared. "Hate and discrimination have no place in our society."

Addressing those responsible directly, Saint-Maximin issued a stark warning: "To those who dared to attack my children, I say this: you made a mistake.

"I will always fight to protect my family, and there is no person or threat that will frighten me."

Club America released a statement expressing their full support for the player and his family following the allegations.

"We reiterate our strong condemnation of any act of discrimination and/or violence that violates human dignity, both on and off the field," the club stated.

"We express our absolute solidarity with Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, who have the support of everyone who is part of this institution."

The Mexican outfit thanked the Frenchman for representing their colours during his brief stint with the club.

Head coach Andre Jardine described losing a player of Saint-Maximin's quality as a 'real shame', adding: "He's a fantastic player, he has the ability to play in any league in the world.

"We wish him all the best."

Saint-Maximin established himself as a cult hero at Newcastle following his arrival from Nice in 2019, going on to make 124 appearances for the Magpies before departing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in a deal worth approximately £23million in 2023.

Since leaving Tyneside, the winger has also had spells at Turkish giants Fenerbahce before his move to Mexico last summer.

Several English clubs reportedly expressed interest when news of his impending departure emerged, though a return to the Premier League appears unlikely.

The 28-year-old is now in advanced negotiations with French Ligue 1 side Lens, with discussions progressing today as he looks set to continue his career back in his homeland.

How he fares back in his homeland remains to be seen.
