After months of speculation, Alexander Isak is set to become a Liverpool player.

The Reds have finally managed to agree a deal with Newcastle worth a British-record £125million, with the 25-year-old poised to undergo a medical on Merseyside today.

For Newcastle, it is a hammer blow. Eddie Howe had spoken repeatedly of his desire to keep Isak but the player always had his heart set on a dream move to Anfield.

For Liverpool, it represents their biggest deal of the summer yet following the arrivals of the likes of Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike. GB News now looks at five shirt numbers Isak could wear in his new surroundings.

No 9

Darwin Nunez

Out of all the shirt numbers currently available, No 9 looks to be the likeliest.

It is, after all, free for the Sweden international to take following the departure of Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

The No 9 has been worn by several Liverpool legends over the years. From Ian Rush to Roberto Firmino, Billy Liddell to Robbie Fowler, it is a special jersey at Anfield.

Isak, most likely, will choose to take it on.

No 13

Isak, at Newcastle, has worn the No 14 shirt.

That jersey is currently occupied at Liverpool, however, with winger Federico Chiesa sporting it.

The next best thing for Isak would be the No 13 shirt, which is currently available at the club.

It was last worn by goalkeeper Adrian during his time at Anfield.

No 16

Alexander Isak

Another possible option for Isak is the vacant No 16.

It was previously worn by Marko Grujic, who has been strutting his stuff for Porto since departing Liverpool midway through the 2020/21 campaign.

Given it holds no special significance, it's highly unlikely he'll take it on.

However, given it's available, it can't be entirely ruled out just yet.

Liverpool aren't done yet

Isak may not actually be Liverpool's last signing of the summer transfer window, despite all the money they've spent so far.

The Reds are also pushing to bring in Marc Guehi, who is widely expected to leave Crystal Palace.

Guehi scored on Sunday night as Palace trounced Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park to continue their positive start to the campaign.

After the match, Dean Henderson was seen telling Guehi to bid farewell to the Palace fans - only for the modest centre-back to turn down that opportunity.

Liverpool have conceded four goals from their first three league matches, with their need for defensive reinforcements evident.

Should they sign Guehi, as well as Isak, it's hard to see anybody stopping them from winning the Premier League title again.
