The Argentinian winger completed his move to Chelsea last week

Alejandro Garnacho has sent a clear message to Manchester United on social media after his £40million move to Premier League rivals Chelsea was confirmed last week.

The Argentine had become an outcast at Old Trafford after he informed boss Ruben Amorim of his decision to leave the club earlier in the summer.

The 21-year-old saw himself join the famed "bomb squad", including Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony and Tyrell Malacia - players who were cast away from the Red Devils' senior squad until they signed for another club.

With Sancho and Anthony expected to confirm their departures to Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively on deadline day, it leaves just Dutch full-back Malacia who has failed to secure a move.

After signing a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho took to social media to express his gratitude to United after spending three years with them.

He wrote: "Dear Manchester, after an unforgettable five years, this special chapter in my life now comes to a close. We have created moments that will stay with me forever, and I’m very grateful for this.

"To the coaches, staff, and my teammates, thank you for believing in me. Every time I wore the badge, I gave everything I had.

"I leave proud of what we achieved together and excited for what’s to come. Wishing the club nothing but success for the future, while I look forward to giving my all in the next chapter of my career."

The statement contrasts to the comments made by the winger immediately after he joined Enzo Maresca's side.

Garnacho laid a sly dig at former boss Amorim, by suggesting he joined the Blues because he has a "winning mentality", something he perhaps did not see at Old Trafford.

“I have a winning mentality. I have passion and a big personality. It’s a natural fit with a club like Chelsea, which have just won the Club World Cup,” he said to the club after his move was confirmed.

“Chelsea are at the top now, and it’s important to fight for the club like the fans deserve. I watched the Club World Cup, and to join the world champions is special – it means we’re the best team in the world!

“It’s not common to have played a lot of games at this age, but it has helped me a lot. I’m only 21 and I have a lot of experience from these different types of games, stadiums and moments.”

Garnacho scored 26 goals and provided 22 assists in 144 games for the Red Devils, including one spectacular bicycle-kick effort against Everton that secured him the coveted Puskas award.
