The want-away striker released a bombshell statement on Tuesday evening

Alan Shearer has demanded Alexander Isak “sack” his agent after making a “f****** mess” as the forward looks to force a move through to Liverpool this summer.

The saga took a new turn on Tuesday evening, with Isak releasing a statement claiming that “promises are broken and trust is lost”, meaning “a change is in the best interests of everyone”.

Newcastle retorted with a strong statement themselves, confirming that “no commitment has ever been made by a club official” that would allow the striker to leave in the summer.

The statement clearly contradicts that of Isak, who remains insistent that something was promised to him this summer, although that something remains to be seen. Newcastle legend Shearer, who scored 148 Premier League goals on Tyneside, believes this doesn’t matter - Isak has still gone about this “the wrong way”.

Speaking to Betfair, the former Magpies striker said: “Newcastle have also released a statement saying that promises were not broken, or promises were never made.

“I’ve always said there are two sides to every story, but my feelings are exactly the same: he’s gone about it in the wrong way.

“I get that he might want to join a huge football club in Liverpool. I understand that, and I understand that they’re regularly going to be competing for trophies.

“But we also need to know who promised him? What did they promise him? When did they promise him, if that is the case? Newcastle have totally denied that.”

The Magpies did admit in their statement, however, that “Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his team-mates.”

While the club’s position remains to keep the want-away forward and integrate him back into the group, Shearer feels that the scenario is becoming less and less likely.

“If he’s still here after the transfer window,” he continued. “I can’t see how you come back from that. He clearly wants to get out and is willing to do anything to do that.

“The club obviously want what they want and what Eddie [Howe] wants, and they've clearly said that is to have a world‑class player back in their squad for however long.

“Maybe that’s a season, whatever it is, because Isak needs to be playing football. He can’t sit and rot in the reserves for six to twelve months.

“It’s very, very messy and it’s not helping anyone, least of all Eddie Howe and the players, which are the most important thing.”

And Shearer, who won one Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers, believes the blame should be laid on Isak’s agent, Vlado Lemic.

Lemic, who brokered the deal that saw Luka Modric leave Tottenham to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, is turning 60 next year and is said to be holding out for Isak’s move to Liverpool as his final mega-money deal.

Alan Shearer has blamed Alexander Isak's agent for the 'mess'

Shearer believes however desperate the Croatian may be to get a deal through, he has made a “mess” in a situation where, as it stands, no one is a winner.

He concluded: “Oh my God, what a f***ing mess his agent has made of this, honestly.

“If I was him, I’d get his agent in a room and sack him on the spot immediately, because he is meant to be giving him the advice to sign that six‑year deal and there’s no get‑out clause. I mean, it’s ridiculous.

“I just think even releasing this statement last night has thrown flames onto the fire, which he didn’t need to do.

“I still don’t think it’s the right way of going about things to get out of a football club. There are ways and means of doing it. As far as I’m aware, he still hasn’t put in a written transfer request. Is there a reason for that?

“I don’t know whether it’s still the case that if you do that, you lose out financially because you don’t get bonuses. Is that a thing that he perhaps should look at? I don’t know. But whatever he’s doing and saying, and whoever’s advising him, for me, it’s not the right way.

“It’s not a good look on a player or an agent to not go out and train and not go out and play when you have a contract behind you. It’s not a good look and it’s not a good thing to do.”
