The Hammers boss has spoken out ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday

West Ham boss David Moyes has ranted about football broadcasters - insisting they're trying to provoke answers about VAR.

The Scot was speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

VAR has been a huge talking point this season, with mistakes happening on a regular basis.

Just last weekend there were big incidents during matches involving Manchester United and Liverpool.

United saw a Scott McTominay goal chalked off by VAR, though did end up beating Fulham 1-0 following a late strike from Bruno Fernandes.

And Arsenal were left aggrieved at the decision to give a goal from Anthony Gordon as they lost 1-0 to Newcastle.

Moyes is, however, unhappy that managers are being put on the spot about VAR.

He's called for football broadcasters to 'respect the managers', insisting they're attempting to provoke controversial responses.

"When we're putting our opinions over, they're not getting a lot of clout at the other end," said the Scot.

"A couple of incidents have been highlighted but it's mainly been the top clubs, as if it doesn't happen to the other clubs.

"I think we're all pretty disappointed with what we're getting back.

"Managers will be fined for speaking out of turn. I can get fined.

"We're being asked within 20 minutes after games about things that can get us fined and in trouble.

"I would ask broadcasters to respect the managers and not put them in those positions.

"Managers have to be defensive, sit back and not share our true feelings because we're asked questions where we know we're going to be fined if we speak out.

"If you want honest opinions, you need to take that up with others.

"Now and again you'll get outbursts and maybe that's what you want."

Moyes was also quizzed on Mohammed Kudus, who has dazzled since moving to the London Stadium back in the summer.

And the West Ham manager is unsure if he'll sign a replacement for the Ghana international when the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in the New Year.

"Bits of his play have been very, very good," he added.

"I'm looking for him to be more creative.

"Mo has made a big impact and he's settling into the Premier League.

"He's got a few goals and I think the crowd know how well he's doing.

"We have been talking about it and three or four players possibly going away, but I don't know if it will mean we sign more players [in January].

"We'll work out how many games they will potentially miss and plan from there."

Moyes also hailed James Ward-Prowse, too, despite the midfielder being left out of the latest England squad.

"He's a great lad and has settled in quickly," he said.

"From my side, I hope he keeps playing well, setting up goals and scoring.

"I think Gareth Southgate has done a great job and he's got a lot of good players to choose from, including James."
