The German won seven titles during his glittering spell in the sport

Former Michael Schumacher team-mate Johnny Herbert has claimed the F1 icon would feel 'nauseous' whenever he used a racing simulator.

The German is considered one of the best drivers of all time, having won seven crowns during his career.

Schumacher won his first title back in 1994 while racing for Benetton before defending the accolade 12 months later.

He proceeded to add to his legacy with five straight triumphs between 2000 and 2004 while driving for Ferrari.

Herbert, speaking to Inclave Casino, has claimed Max Verstappen is better than Schumacher.

The 26-year-old is hoping to win the F1 title for the fourth year in a row and tops the standings from the first three races so far.

And Herbert says Verstappen is ahead because of simulators, with Schumacher feeling 'nauseous' when he used them in his own sporting career.

“Yes, Verstappen is better than Schumacher," he said.

"It is about human development and evolution.

"When Michael was around simulators, they were there to be used, but Michael always felt a bit nauseous when he got on it.

“Max lives on a Red Bull simulator. He races on a simulator all the time.

"It is a sixth or seventh sense that these modern drivers have now.

"That is why you have constant evolution. It is how you use the tools when you get into the cockpit.

"Michael wasn’t able at the period to take simulator data into the cockpit. Max does."

He continued: “People are saying that Red Bull has the best car, which it has.

"But he is driving the actual wheels off it. He is performing at such a high level that he makes the difference.

“That is where the likes of Max, Lewis, Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mike and Alonso make that difference.

"They are those rare beasts who can get the best out of the car every time they get in it.

“Sergio Perez is not a bad driver at all but he is nowhere near as good as Max. He is driving the best I have ever seen and we haven’t seen the best of him."

Herbert also thinks Verstappen is comparable to Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, insisting the 'unbelievable' Red Bull driver is breaking new ground.

“When Tiger Woods was at the top of his game, we all enjoyed it," he said.

“His skill levels were phenomenal.

"We could see it and it was fascinating to watch every shot he made. He was way ahead of the field.

“Everybody enjoyed that and in the same way they should enjoy Max.

"He is unbelievable. It is up to the other teams to provide a package that their drivers can have to challenge him.

"But behind Max it is very tight between the other drivers with only about two or three-tenths of a second down to about eight or ninth place.

“But there is this one man who is so dominant. Roger Federer was the same at his peak.

"It is a skill and you can’t take away from that and say that it is boring."
