Gina-Maria Schumacher will tie the knot with boyfriend Iain Bethke this summer

Michael Schumacher's family have reportedly made a pact with leading German media companies regarding coverage of Gina-Maria Schumacher's wedding later in the year.

Gina is due to marry boyfriend Iain Bethke this summer in Spain, with the pair getting engaged at the start of the year.

The decision to host the wedding at a mansion in the country has led to claims that Schumacher will attend his daughter's special day.

The 56-year-old continues to live a life shrouded in secrecy, having sustained life-changing injuries in a devastating skiing accident back in 2013.

According to BILD, senior executives at leading German media companies have agreed to protect the privacy of Schumacher and his family.

They have agreed not to speculate about his health and that 'caution' will be exercised with regards to how they report on the day.

The Schumacher family have kept updates on the F1 legend to a minimum ever since the incident that changed all of their lives over a decade ago.

Schumacher was skiing in France when he tragically went off course and hit his head on a rock.

He was airlifted to hospital and later placed in a medically induced coma.

Since being allowed to return home, there have been no sightings of Schumacher with information sparse.

Johnny Herbert, who raced alongside the German during their days in Formula One, says he's heard whispers that Schumacher is able to sit at the dinner table with the rest of his family.

Speaking recently, he said: "I hear bits only second hand.

"I hear, from those within F1, he does sit at the table for dinner but don’t know if that is true.

"I can only read between the lines.

"We haven’t heard much from the family and understandably so.

"That has always been very much a part of Michael and the family’s way to keep everything very private, very secretive.

"That has carried on from his racing days.

"I don’t feel things have moved on in a way that many of us who knew him and many of his fans around the world want to see.

"They’d love to know, we’d all love to know that things are moving on in a positive way.

"But because we don’t have any information, we can only assume that he is not yet in a position where there is a chance of a recovery."

Herbert also says he feels Schumacher's family are waiting for a scientific breakthrough that will help improve the German's way of life.

"In my opinion, and I must stress this, because we haven’t heard anything from the family, it shows that unfortunately he is probably in the similar situation as he was straight after the accident," he continued.

"It doesn’t seem they have moved much, if at all.

"I suppose the family is waiting for science to come up with something that will hopefully bring back the Michael we all knew and for the people who only saw him through the television pictures when he was being dynamic on a race track."
