McLaren pairing Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris landed first and second respectively in Miami

Oscar Piastri claimed a commanding victory at the Miami Grand Prix, leading home teammate Lando Norris in a dominant McLaren one-two finish.

The Australian extended his championship lead with his third consecutive Grand Prix win of the 2025 season.

Piastri made his way from fourth on the grid to take the lead on lap 14 from Max Verstappen and never looked back.

George Russell completed the podium with a third-place finish for Mercedes, ahead of Verstappen who had to settle for fourth.

The race featured notable tension between title contenders Verstappen and Norris, who engaged in fierce wheel-to-wheel battles throughout.

The battle between Verstappen and Norris ignited immediately as the pair went wheel-to-wheel into the opening corner.

Verstappen's aggressive defensive driving saw him shove his rival wide, causing Norris to lose four positions in the process.

The British driver quickly recovered, overtaking both Mercedes cars of Antonelli and Russell to rejoin the fight at the front.

Meanwhile, Piastri was hunting down race leader Verstappen with determination.

The Australian made his decisive move at Turn One, forcing the Dutchman deep on the brakes.

Verstappen locked up and surrendered the lead on lap 14, with Piastri seizing control of the race.

Norris eventually made his way past Verstappen four laps after his teammate, but not without controversy.

The Briton was initially forced to hand the position back to Verstappen after passing him outside the white lines at Turn 11.

After several attempts, Norris finally completed a clean overtake on lap 18, but by then Piastri had built a commanding 9-second lead.

The race dynamics shifted when Antonelli attempted an undercut, prompting Verstappen to cover him off in the pits.

A Virtual Safety Car deployment following Oliver Bearman's power unit failure benefited Russell, who jumped Verstappen during the pit stops.

The Mercedes driver seized the opportunity for a cheap stop, emerging ahead of the Red Bull to secure the final podium position.

Alex Albon delivered a brilliant performance to claim fifth place for Williams, showcasing the team's improved form.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli impressed with a sixth-place finish in only his fifth Formula 1 race.

LATEST SPORT NEWS:

Ferrari endured a difficult afternoon with Charles Leclerc finishing seventh and Lewis Hamilton eighth, the latter voicing frustrations with his team's decision-making.

Carlos Sainz secured ninth place for Williams, while Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the points in tenth for Red Bull.

Piastri's third consecutive victory firmly establishes him as the championship frontrunner in 2025.

The Australian's commanding performance in Miami demonstrated McLaren's growing dominance as they continue their impressive campaign.
