The Briton has made an extravagant purchase just days before the Belgian Grand Prix

George Russell has treated himself to a £2.2 million luxury yacht following his impressive performance this season.

The 27-year-old British driver, who currently sits fourth in the Driver's Standings, recently acquired a Pershing 6X vessel.

Russell's success on the track has translated into substantial earnings, with the four-time Grand Prix winner reportedly taking home £11.2m annually. His latest purchase represents a significant investment in leisure, allowing him to swap the racing circuit for the open water.

The acquisition comes during what has been described as one of Russell's strongest campaigns with Mercedes, cementing his position among Formula One's elite drivers.

The Pershing 6X is a 62-foot vessel capable of reaching top speeds of 48 knots. The yacht can accommodate up to 14 people and features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, along with a kitchen and upper deck living area, according to The Sun.

Performance comes courtesy of twin MAN V12 1550mhp engines, delivering power comparable to Russell's Formula One machinery. The bow includes an expansive lounging area for sunbathing, whilst the stern houses a garage suitable for storing jet skis.

Russell recently attended Pershing's 40th anniversary celebration in Capri, where he enjoyed champagne and a private drone display, marking his entry into the brand's exclusive ownership circle.

The yacht's luxury extends beyond its performance capabilities. The upper deck living area provides an elegant space for entertaining, whilst the bow features a substantial cushioned zone where Russell and his guests can relax in the sun during their maritime excursions.

The vessel's rear section includes a built-in garage, offering storage for water sports equipment including jet skis. This feature allows for varied activities on the water, providing options beyond cruising.

Russell's investment in the Pershing brand appears to have brought additional benefits. The driver was invited to the manufacturer's exclusive 40th anniversary event in Capri, where he sipped champagne whilst watching a private drone show, highlighting his status as a valued customer of the Italian yacht builder.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Russell's future at Mercedes appears secure despite his current contract expiring next year. The British driver has expressed confidence about remaining with the team, even as speculation swirls about a potential move for Max Verstappen from Red Bull.

"I want to continue with Mercedes into the future. Toto [Wolff] has never let me down, has always given me his word," Russell said ahead of the British Grand Prix earlier this month.

He returns to action at the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend.
