Christian Horner has remained on the sidelines of Formula 1 since his dismissal from Red Bull in July 2025, bringing to a close two decades at the helm of one of the sport's most successful outfits, but does anyone want him back?
The 52-year-old Englishman oversaw an extraordinary period of dominance, securing eight World Drivers' Championship titles and six Constructors' Championships during his tenure.
Fresh speculation has emerged linking Horner with a position at Aston Martin, with reports indicating he held discussions with team owner Lawrence Stroll.
However, no formal offer has materialised from those talks.

| GETTYHorner has publicly expressed his desire to return, though potentially in a role beyond team principal.
He is understood to be part of an investor consortium seeking to acquire a 24 per cent stake in Alpine.
Yet not everyone in the paddock is eager to see Horner's return.
Former driver Ralf Schumacher, who competed for Jordan, Williams and Toyota between 1997 and 2007, has offered a pointed assessment of Horner's standing within the sport.
Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, the German said: "I know Christian Horner won't like me saying this, but the fact is he has achieved an enormous amount and had incredible success, but of course, because of that success, he has also changed a bit."

| GETTYSchumacher added: "In the paddock, you don't hear much good about him.
"This means that if you were to hire Christian Horner as a team principal today, probably none of the current good people would come, because they wouldn’t want to work with him.
The younger brother of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher went further, suggesting that hiring Horner would deter talented personnel from joining any team.
"His reputation, at least as far as I can judge based on what we hear, isn't completely ruined, but it is badly damaged," he stated.
Broadcaster Will Buxton has echoed similar sentiments, expressing frustration at Horner's name surfacing whenever a senior position becomes available.
"Can we also move to get over the fascination with Christian Horner?" he asked on the Up To Speed podcast.
Buxton urged the sport to consider fresh candidates, specifically championing Jonathan Wheatley, who has spent decades proving himself within the paddock.

| GETTY"Let's give it to some people who are coming through the ranks. People like Jonathan Wheatley who have proved themselves for 20, 30 years and being given an opportunity," Buxton said.
The broadcaster praised recent appointments within the paddock, highlighting Alan Permane at Racing Bulls and Laurent Mekies at Red Bull as examples of deserving figures finally receiving their chance.
Buxton also offered a striking assessment of Wheatley, who recently departed Audi and may be in line for a team principal role once gardening leave concludes.

"He might give the impression that he's a dolphin," Buxton remarked.
"He's a shark, he has got the sharpest teeth that you have ever seen."
