Littler's route to the final showcased exactly why he's the world No 1. He dispatched Stephen Bunting 6-3 in the quarter-finals, barely putting a foot wrong throughout.
Former World Matchplay finalist Wayne Mardle said on Sky Sports: "Luke Littler was very, very good against Stephen Bunting.
"There was only two trebleless visits and that meant that Stephen had nothing to jump on."
The semi-final brought another meeting with Gerwyn Price, and Littler made it three wins in a row against the Welshman with a commanding 6-4 victory, posting a superb 108 average.
