Luke Littler was not an overly popular figure in Liverpool given his support of rivals Manchester United.

Luke Littler bit back at the hostile reception he was given by the Liverpool crowd on Thursday night by mocking Jurgen Klopp's side's 2-0 defeat to Everton.

The 17-year-old is an avid Manchester United fan and has made it clear on social media how he feels about rivals Liverpool.

He trolled the club after United's FA Cup win a month ago and was back at it after Liverpool were knocked out of the Europa League.

That made Littler enemy No 1 inside the M&S Bank Arena on Thursday night for the 13th Premier League night of the season.

Littler was loudly booed from sections of the crowd as he made his way to the stage for his match against Gerwyn Price.

He embraced being the pantomime villain though, cupping his ears and called for the crowd to chant even louder.

He then held two fingers up on one hand with a closed fist on the other to mock Liverpool's 2-0 defeat to Everton the previous night.

Then, in a move that was branded 'brave' by the PDC's official social media account, Littler repeated the gesture on stage.

The hostile reception was something that Littler was expecting ahead of the evening in Liverpool.

"I'm just gonna expect the worst," he told Sky Sports.

"If it's not that bad then I'll take it as a positive.

"Fans can't really take the banter but that's all I do is have a bit of banter."

Littler even revealed he picked watching the Merseyside derby over his beloved United, who came to defeat Sheffield United 4-2.

"It was a good result for Everton," Littler said while smiling.

Littler suffered a setback last week in the Premier League when he lost in the first round for only the second time this season.

But he was back in the semi-finals in Liverpool after seeing off the challenge of Price.

There are just three Premier League evenings for the season remaining before the top four compete in the play-offs next month.
