Cycling star Nathan van Hooydonck is reportedly in a life-threatening condition following a car crash.
The 27-year-old was reportedly driving in Belgium with his pregnant wife in the passenger seat when he suddenly felt unwell.
HLN claim Van Hoodydonck accidentally accelerated across a busy junction at traffic lights at around 8.30am on Tuesday morning.
That then triggered a smash involving five cars, with police then forced to close the rose.
The report says the 27-year-old was resuscitated at the scene and transported to hospital.
He is in 'serious and critical danger' and is now fighting for his life.
His wife, Alicia, is due to give birth in around a month.
She was also taken to hospital for medical examinations and police have released a statement.
Spokesperson Patrick de Smedt said: "A car with two occupants was waiting at the traffic lights at the intersection of Dorpsstraat and Kapelsesteenweg.
"The driver was resuscitated on site and taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
"His pregnant wife who was sitting next to him was not injured but was also taken to hospital for a check-up."
Reports also say three others suffered minor injuries.
They were sat in other cars and among the injured was a young child.
Van Hooydonck currently races for Team Jumbo-Visma and came 93rd at the Tour de France earlier this year.
He's also taken part in the Tour of Britain, too, and helped team-mate Wout van Aert secure a second crown last week.
Van Hooydonck had also been picked for Belgium ahead of the European Road Championships in the Netherlands.
He and his partner, Alicia, have already suffered heartache.
In December 2021, they lost their newborn son Thiago on the day he was born.
Van Hooydonck then uploaded an emotional message on social media that read: "Your heart stopped beating before we could hold you in our arms.
"You have given us incredibly beautiful moments. Just the three of us were together.
