The Spaniard will be hoping to retain his title at Flushing Meadows
Carlos Alcaraz has broken a record at the US Open before the tournament has even started.
The 20-year-old goes into the competition, which is due to commence on Monday, hoping to secure a third Grand Slam title of his career.
And Alcaraz will make US Open history by entering the competition as the youngest-ever No 1 seed.
The 20-year-old has beaten the previous record set by Ashley Cooper all the way back in 1957. Alcaraz is 234 days younger than Cooper, with that 66-year record now broken.

Alcaraz has also previously made tennis history by being the youngest man to be ranked at world No 1, at the tender age of 19 years, four months, and six days old.
Many will be intrigued to see how the youngster fares in New York as he looks to win another title.
Alcaraz was too strong for all of his opponents last year, overcoming Casper Ruud in four sets in the final.
And he then followed that up by beating Novak Djokovic in a spectacular Wimbledon final last month.
Djokovic, however, looks to be a man on a mission as he prepares to take part in the US Open for the first time since 2021.

"He plays so maturely, handles the pressure so well for a 20-year-old.
"We cannot forget how young he is. That's something that is so impressive about him."
Alcaraz was left tearful after the defeat in Ohio in Sunday but was still able to congratulate Djokovic, saying: "It's amazing playing against you, sharing the court with you, learning from you.
"This match was really close, but I learned a lot from a champion like you.
