Jake Paul is already said to have accepted a remarkably low purse for the fight

Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh has revealed that talks have taken place between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua for a potential blockbuster fight, with the American already agreeing to a substantially reduced purce.

The extraordinary financial terms would see Joshua receive 99 per cent of the total prize money.

Speaking on 'Tha Boxing Voice' podcast, Alalshikh confirmed: "I don't want 50-50. In this situation, I want 99-1. Jake Paul has accepted. Now, next week I will talk with Joshua about it."

The announcement follows Paul's recent victory over Julio César Chávez Jr., with the YouTuber-turned-boxer now eyeing a move from cruiserweight to face the former unified heavyweight champion.

Alalshikh made his personal preferences clear during the podcast appearance, stating: "I'm not against what Jake Paul's doing in boxing, it's good for boxing to have a young generation. I'm against some kinds of fights he does.

"Joshua, if he destroys [Paul], it will be good for me. The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind.

"If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished, and Jake Paul deserves his ranking and deserves to have a future in boxing."

After his bout, Jake Paul called out two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua

Paul cruised through his bout against Julio César Chávez Jr. last month, calling out multiple fighters after, with Anthony Joshua the biggest name.

The win earned him a WBA cruiserweight ranking at No14, marking the biggest achievement of his boxing career to date.

The 28-year-old American boasts a record of 12 wins from 13 fights, with his sole defeat coming against Tommy Fury.

His wins have included Mike Tyson, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva.

Paul has already expressed confidence about facing Joshua, vowing to knock out the British fighter during a recent podcast appearance where he claimed the former champion "doesn't have a chin".

Joshua, 35, has not fought since his defeat to Daniel Dubois in September last year.

The Watford fighter holds a professional record of 28 wins from 32 bouts, with notable victories against Joseph Parker, Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin.

The former unified champion also previously faced a crossover opponent when he defeated UFC legend Francis Ngannou in March 2024.

Both fighters had verbally agreed to face each other in 2026 following a recent phone call.

Under Alalshikh's proposed terms, Joshua would receive one of the largest purses in boxing history.

Paul reportedly earned $40million (£30million) for his bout against Mike Tyson last November, but would receive significantly less under the 99-1 split.
