The legendary boxer has spoken out on the danger his son faced before his fight

Chris Eubank Sr has launched a scathing attack on boxing promoters and demanded the Boxing Board of Control enforce safety regulations to protect fighters.

The British boxing legend has condemned the sport's organisers for imposing dangerous weight conditions on boxers.

In a passionate video posted to his YouTube channel, Eubank Sr accused promoters of being "dangerous and reckless" in their handling of fighters' welfare. He specifically criticised the weight restrictions placed on his son Chris Eubank Jr for his April bout against Conor Benn.

"If the Boxing Board of Control do not do what they are supposed to do, which is to block fights from happening which do not abide by the weights and the rules. You are baboons!" Eubank Sr declared.

The 58-year-old revealed the harsh terms imposed on his son for the middleweight clash, which saw Eubank Jr forced to cut from his natural weight of 175lbs down to 160lbs.

Beyond the gruelling weight cut, promoters implemented additional restrictions that Eubank Sr branded "life-threatening".

"He was not just weight drained, they put a rehydration clause in. They fined him $500,000 for coming two ounces over the weight," Eubank Sr explained. He argued these conditions endangered his son's health, particularly as Benn was moving up two weight divisions for the fight.

The boxing icon insisted such rules were meant to protect fighters, not endanger them through extreme weight manipulation.

Eubank Sr's condemnation of promoters became increasingly fierce as he accused them of treating fighters as commodities rather than human beings. "They are treating us like we are meat. They are butchering us," he stated.

The former world champion dismissed suggestions he was overreacting to the situation. "I am not overreacting. I do not overreact. But what I am here to do is to protect," he insisted.

He referenced his son's own harsh assessment of promoters, saying: "What did my son call them? Scum buckets. If that is the term he gave to promoters, he is not wrong."

Despite the dangerous conditions, Eubank Sr acknowledged his son's determination, citing "money" and "the heart" as driving factors.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Despite his fierce opposition to the bout, Eubank Sr shocked spectators by attending the fight to support his son. He had previously condemned the event publicly and attempted to persuade Eubank Jr not to compete, claiming his son was "killing himself" to make the 160lb limit.

The fight proceeded as scheduled in April, though Eubank Jr missed weight.
