The Gypsy King is currently preparing for the bout in May

Carl Froch has expressed a belief Tyson Fury's heart 'isn't in it' after the Gypsy King's bout with Oleksandr Usyk was pushed back.

Fury and his Ukrainian rival had been due to lock horns on February 17, with fans from all over the world looking forward to the fight.

However, they'll now face each other on May 18 instead after Fury sustained a gruesome injury to his eye.

Froch has previously raised fears the bout will be delayed once again, having already been postponed twice so far.

And the former boxing star, speaking on his YouTube channel, believes Fury's heart 'isn't in it' - and that another delay is possible.

"Any time now that Fury is out of the ring and waiting around, I don’t think his heart is in it," he said.

"He’s made a lot of money, I don’t know how serious he is about the sport and I think he’s on the slide.

“Where is he with his career? Where does he want to be?

"He has plenty of money and has achieved a lot over 15 years.

"I hope he still does want the fight because we all want to see it.”

Froch also said he wasn't 100 convinced about the fight going ahead, despite the threat of a fine if either boxer pulls out.

“Hopefully May 18 is the truth," he stated.

"It’s a good move to announce it but I’m still not 100 per cent convinced.

"If one of them now pulls out there is a 10 million pound compensation. But I don’t know how relevant that is or what the truth is.

“Hopefully, they will be fighting, Fury has got a legitimate cut, we’ve seen it, we know it happened, but the landscape could change dramatically and these two fighters might never meet.”

It comes after Froch had told talkSPORT he was 'dubious' about the showdown.

“I’m not so sure," he said when asked if the fight will happen.

"To start with I wasn’t so sure about the cut, I wanted to see it stitched up.

"After seeing Tyson Fury on his Instagram, the cut to me doesn’t look like an acute injury it looks like it’s healing.

“It scabbed over, the bruising is showing, and it looks a week old.

"Have they been sitting on it to time it right and give the news?

"The sparring footage was blurry and horrible and we never saw the cut after he got elbowed.

“I’m devastated it’s not happening in two weeks and I'm still dubious as to whether it will happen in May."

Fury has, however, insisted he wants to fight Usyk twice - while the Gypsy King is also targeting future showdowns with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou as well.

“I’ve got two fights with Usyk, for the undisputed twice," the 35-year-old said on Instagram.

"Then I’m gonna fight AJ at least once. Maybe twice if there’s a rematch, if he wants one after the first battering I give him.

"And then I’m gonna fight Ngannou again.

“And that’s just to start. So there’s five little fights for you to whet your appetite with.

"I ain’t going nowhere. Nowhere. I’m 35-year-old in the prime of my life.”
