The incident took place in Nigeria

Anthony Joshua has reportedly sustained injuries following a road collision in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two individuals.

The 36-year-old former heavyweight world champion was travelling in a vehicle that collided with a stationary lorry on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Makun, according to Nigerian media reports.

Local sources indicate that Joshua suffered only minor injuries in the incident, whilst two other individuals were declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Video footage circulating online appears to capture the British boxer sitting shirtless amid the wreckage of a Lexus Jeep, surrounded by shattered glass and looking visibly stunned.

Subsequent images show Joshua seated in the front of an emergency response vehicle, where he can be seen conversing with officials at the scene.

The footage emerged following the collision on one of Nigeria's busiest motorways, which connects the country's largest city Lagos to the southwestern city of Ibadan.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion is reported to have escaped the collision with relatively minor harm despite the severity of the crash.

The boxer captioned the video: "@healthy_mindset dishing out table tennis smoke."

Joshua, who has Nigerian heritage, frequently visits the West African nation and maintains strong connections to the country.

But he eventually got the job done in the sixth round, defeating Paul via knockout and ending the 28-year-old's hopes of a remarkable upset.

Speaking afterwards, Joshua admitted that he hadn't been at his bruising, brilliant best in the contest.

And he also praised Paul for having the courage to face him in what represented the biggest night of the American's career.

“It wasn’t the best performance. The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down, hurt him - that has been the request leading up," he said.

“It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found its destination."

“Jake Paul has done really well tonight. I wanna give him his props, it takes a real man to do that.

“He came up against a real fighter tonight, who's had a 15-month lay-off.
“I needed to give this guy a systematic breakdown, I said I'm going to see his soul leave his body round after round.
“I said it, and that’s exactly what happened."
