The Cameroon international had a night to forget at the Allianz Arena
Andre Onana swore in a post-match interview after making a mistake for Manchester United in their 4-3 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
The Cameroon international allowed a straightforward shot from Leroy Sane to squirm under his body to give the Bundesliga giants the lead.
Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane and Mathys Tel also netted for Bayern, with a double from Casemiro and goal from Rasmus Hojlund not enough for United.
Onana, to his credit, fronted up after his costly clanger.
And the goalkeeper swore while speaking to CBS Sports, saying: “S**t happens in life. That mistake cost us the victory.”
He added: “I have to assume responsibility we lost because of me. It’s time to accept it, we are big men.”
In another interview with TNT Sports, Onana admitted he had struggled for United since joining from Inter Milan back in the summer.
The 27-year-old arrived with a big price tag and big expectations to replace club legend David De Gea.
Onana since joining, however, is yet to convince between the sticks.
He has conceded 14 goals in just six matches, leading to some concerns he isn't good enough.
Onana is eager to bounce back, though, and said: "It's difficult. We started very good.
"After my mistake we lost control of the game. It's a difficult situation for us, for me.
"The team were one down because of that mistake. I have to learn from it and be strong. I'm happy with the comeback of the team.
"I have a lot to prove. My start in Manchester hasn't been so good, not how I want. This was one of my worst games. We have big ambition.
"It's a tough time. We have to be together and work hard."
United boss Erik ten Hag also defended Onana, insisting the whole team must improve if they're to come out the other side of their bad run of form.
"It's good he's doing that but it's about the team," he said, referring to Onana's comments.
"Mistakes are being made but you have to bounce back as a team.
"If one player makes a mistake, it's done, it's gone.
"We have to believe as a team that we can always bounce back. Tonight we showed it."
Ten Hag also admitted in his post-match press conference that United had faced tough teams during the early embers of the season so far.
“What you have seen is a very high level," said the 53-year-old.
"Against Arsenal, Munich, Brighton. All top, top level teams and we are going head to head but they win.
"And yeah, then the way they win, we have to make our own luck. And that has to do with absolute determination.
