Zara and Mike Tindall have enjoyed their first visit to Hamilton Island during a recent Australian holiday, with the former England rugby international documenting their experiences on social media.

The royal couple's time on the water left a lasting impression, with Mike sharing his enthusiasm about the marine park experience.

"It's our first time being out on the water in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park too and it really was unreal," he posted on Instagram.

The former rugby player reflected on their Queensland holiday, writing: "Made some incredible memories. What an unforgettable way to spend some downtime."

Their Australian visit also included attending the State of Origin rugby league decider in Sydney last week.

The couple were guests of former Queensland fullback Billy Slater and Nicole Rose for the match, where they witnessed Queensland's commanding 24-12 victory over New South Wales.

Queensland secured their 25th State of Origin series with the decisive victory at the packed Sydney venue, having forced a decider after their narrow 26-24 win in Perth on 18 June.

The match marked the culmination of the three-game series, with Queensland bouncing back from their opening 18-6 defeat on 28 May.
