'I looked barking,' Lady Frederick Windsor said as she opened up about her regrets

Sophie Winkleman has made a candid confession about Princess Michael of Kent's decision.

Princess Michael, 80, "took over" the running of Sophie's 2009 wedding to her son, Lord Frederick Windsor.

Lady Frederick Windsor has stated she now regrets several things about her 2009 royal wedding, describing her hair as "disgusting".

Sophie admitted the ceremony was a complete blur due to an immediate move to Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old actress admitted her mother-in-law chose her bridal gown, which she described as "very sweet and puffy, but I looked barking."

Sophie revealed she didn't mind the arrangement at the time, saying: "She sort of took it all over, and I actually didn't mind at all. I thought, 'Great, do everything.'"

However, looking back, she has regrets about her wedding day priorities. "I was concentrating on this acting job and saying goodbye to my darling granny, who wasn't very well, and just doing other stuff," she reflected.

"But now I look back on it and think I should have worn a simpler dress, and I should have got my hair blow-dried by someone who'd done it before."

She revealed her husband still gets upset about her wedding day appearance, saying: "My hair was so disgusting, and Freddie still gets upset about it."

Despite her wedding day regrets, Sophie expressed warm feelings towards her husband's family. "Family isn't always brilliant, but this lot are very sweet. I love all of them," she told The Telegraph.

"It was such a blur because we had to move to Los Angeles the day after [the wedding], and I had to start a brand new job the day after that," she explained.

Sophie and Lord Frederick welcomed their first daughter, Maud, now 11, while living in California. They added another daughter, Isabella, in 2016 after moving back to the UK.

The family of four regularly joins the British Royal Family at events, including Princess Kate's annual Christmas carol concert in December.

The actress, whose credits include Peep Show and Two and a Half Men, has successfully balanced her career with Royal Family obligations.

As a mother, Sophie has become concerned about screen use in education, revealing that her children's schools "gave them iPads without telling me."

She described the impact on her daughters' daily routine: "So they're on screen for a lot of the day. They come home, they open up the damn thing again, and they're on screen for two hours doing homework."

Sophie believes this approach is harmful, stating: "It's such a physically unhealthy way to learn.

"It's so bad for their eyesight, it's bad for their posture, it's bad for their sleep rhythms.

"It's even bad for hormones, and it's terrible cognitively."

She has teamed up with social psychologist Jonathan Haidt and actor Hugh Grant to advocate against classroom screen use, making a speech at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London earlier this year.
