A US lawmaker made a direct plea for Ms Ferguson to testify about her 'close personal' relationship with Jeffrey Epstein last month

Sarah Ferguson has vowed she will "never set foot in the United States again" an insider close to the former Duchess of York has claimed.

Ms Ferguson lost her royal title after the extent of her links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein emerged in the Epstein files.

The 66-year-old had previously spent a lot of time in the States promoting her business interests.

Last month, a US lawmaker made a direct plea to Ms Ferguson for her to testify about her "close personal" relationship with Epstein.

Following the letter, an insider, reportedly close to Sarah Ferguson, told the Daily Mirror that the former duchess laid out in no uncertain terms that she does not plan on returning to the US.

The insider told the paper: "Sarah has made it clear to those around her she will never set foot in America again.

"She is deeply worried about the reaction she would face, whether from Epstein’s victims or scrutiny from Congress."

They added: "It has not been a difficult decision despite how deeply entrenched in America she once was."

In a letter addressed to Ms Ferguson last month, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam urged her to cooperate with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s investigation into Epstein's sex trafficking network.

"Documentation of your relationship with Mr Epstein includes an email from 'Sarah' referring to Mr Epstein as 'a legend' — after Mr Epstein’s 2008 conviction — and writing: 'I really don’t have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness.. I am at your service. Just marry me'," the letter read.

Congressman Subramanyam added that it was "clear" Ms Ferguson had "social and business ties" to Epstein, and that she has "knowledge of information that can assist our investigation".

Concluding the direct address, the congressman demanded a response by April 9, 2026.

The extent of Ms Ferguson's links to Epstein were unearthed in the the Epstein files.

Though no mention in the files suggests any wrongdoing, previously unseen emails now show the ex-Duchess praising Epstein as "the brother I have always wished for", and suggest she contacted Epstein while he was in prison for soliciting prostitution of a minor.

Sarah Ferguson said in 2011 regarding her links to Jeffrey Epstein: "I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf.

"I am just so contrite I cannot say. Whenever I can, I will repay the money and have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again."

Ms Ferguson's ties to the convicted paedophile led to several charities separating from her, while on Thursday, she had her honorary Freedom of the City of York stripped.

Previously, she had built a strong connection with the USA. She became a high-profile ambassador for US-based Weight Watchers and featured on the infamous Oprah Winfrey Show.

She also resided in New York for a brief period.
