Sarah Ferguson continues to show that she is "firmly back in the royal fold", royal sources have claimed.

The Duchess of York attended the Easter Sunday service last weekend alongside her ex-husband Prince Andrew, despite divorcing in 1996.

Under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, divorced members of the Royal Family would rarely make a public appearance at public gatherings.

This was evident as Fergie never attended the Sandringham royal walkabout on Christmas Day after her separation from the Duke of York in 1992, until this past December under the reign of King Charles III.

The Duchess of York was also not invited to the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate in 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

However, under Charles's reign, Fergie has made multiple appearances, starting with Christmas Day in 2023.

This was her first Christmas appearance with the Royal Family in over 30 years.

She later attended King Constantine of Greece's memorial service in February at St George's Chapel.

The 64-year-old had a prominent position during the day as she led the procession of royals into the chapel alongside Prince Andrew.

The former couple continue to cohabitate at Royal Lodge in Windsor and maintain a close relationship.

Following Sarah's appearance on Easter Sunday, royal fans took to social media to discuss her presence.

One wrote: "I think we’re going to have to assume that Fergie is here to stay, which goes to show how little the UK royals care about public opinion."

Another added: "Fergie’s back in the fold, joining the Royal Family for their Sandringham Christmas last year, and now Easter in Windsor."

However, some fans defended the Duchess of York's surprise appearance.

For example, one commented: "The woman is allowed to go to church, how petty some people are. Andrew is still a family member and Fergie is the mother of his daughters, so she is family also.

"Easter Day Service and other holidays are not for working royals… The Windsor family is invited to family outings!"
