The sartorial choice comes as the former duchess navigates her latest reputational crisis

Kate Moss made a fashion statement at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday, donning a vintage Yves Saint Laurent pink jacket from the house's autumn 1988 collection alongside a sheer lace Alaïa catsuit at a YSL afterparty.

The 52-year-old's choice of jacket was the very same design Sarah Ferguson wore when leaving Portland Hospital after giving birth to Princess Eugenie in 1990.

At that time, the then-Duchess of York's husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, had complemented her outfit with a coordinating pink tie.

The sartorial choice comes as the 66-year-old former duchess navigates her latest reputational crisis.

In September 2025, emails dating from 2011 emerged that revealed Ms Ferguson's close ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Several charities subsequently dropped her as a patron or ambassador after she referred to him as her "supreme friend" in the correspondence, despite having publicly distanced herself from him.

In October 2025, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Ms Ferguson and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, would no longer use their Duke and Duchess of York titles.

The release of the Epstein files by the US Department of Justice in 2026 appeared to show she requested financial help from him while he was in prison.

Ms Ferguson has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The friendship between Ms Moss and Ms Ferguson dates back more than two decades.

The pair reportedly first met at Hong Kong businessman David Tang's birthday celebration in Bhutan in 2004, introduced by their mutual friend Naomi Campbell.

Their bond has been documented through shared holidays in Venice in 2013 and Greece in 2016, as well as regular evenings out in London and appearances at charitable functions, including a Marie Curie Cancer Care event in 2012.

Ms Moss attended Princess Eugenie's wedding in 2018, later describing the occasion as "great and beautiful."

Ms Ferguson has spoken warmly of their connection, telling The Standard on Ms Moss's 50th birthday in 2024: "Kate and I have known each other for many, many years and we have laughed and been steadfast in our friendship in all ways."

Ms Moss has previously spoken about loyalty to friends in difficult moments.

For example, when designer John Galliano was dismissed from Dior in 2011 following an anti-Semitic outburst in a Paris bar, Ms Moss asked him to create her wedding dress that same year as a deliberate gesture of solidarity.

She later defended him publicly in 2022, stating: "I believe in the truth, and I believe in fairness and justice. I know that John Galliano is not a bad person; he had an alcohol problem, and people turn."

The supermodel also testified on behalf of former partner Johnny Depp during his defamation case against Amber Heard.

Naomi Campbell has praised Ms Moss's dependability, telling The Evening Standard: "Kate has stood by me through it all. You can count on your hands the friends who'll be there for you in the tough times, and she's one of them."

Ms Ferguson reportedly retreated to the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland, in January, where treatment costs £13,000 daily.
