Speaking to Times Radio following his inclusion in King Charles's New Year Honours list last December, Davis described the recognition as understated yet meaningful.
"It's a very dignified honour," he remarked. "It's not like a BAFTA it's not big and shiny and show-bizzy."
The actor emphasised that recognition was never his motivation, stating: "I didn't do any of what I do to get an award. I just do it because I enjoy doing it."
Davis's career in film began at just 11 years old when he portrayed Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, subsequently reprising the character in two television films.
