The Duchess of Edinburgh's motorcycle police escort struck an elderly woman on Wednesday afternoon, leaving her badly injured.
The 80-year-old has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after she was hit by a police motorbike escorting Sophie in west London.
At around 3.21pm on Wednesday, the motorcycle collided with the woman near the junction of Cromwell Road and Warwick Road in Earl's Court.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital.

The pensioner is in a critical condition.
The woman's family have been informed following the incident.
Buckingham Palace says the Duchess of Edinburgh's "thoughts and prayers are with the injured lady and her family".
The statement added that Sophie was grateful for the "swift response" of emergency services.
There are no reports of any other injuries.
The Met police have said enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.
A Met spokesman has confirmed the force's Directorate of Professional Standards has been alerted about the collision, which is routine.
On Saturday, Sophie attended King Charles's Coronation.
