Hauser & Wirth, the prestigious modern art gallery situated on Savile Row, is set to face trial for an alleged breach of Russian sanctions.

The gallery stands accused of making George Condo's 2021 painting Escape from Humanity available to an individual with Russian connections.

Princess Eugenie, who has served as associate director at the gallery since 2015, has no suggested involvement in the matter.

Eugenie, who is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson's youngest daughter, is not a working member of the Royal Family.

A London-based art shipping firm, Artay Rauchwerger Solomons, previously trading as Art Logistics Limited, faces similar accusations covering August to December of that year.

The shipping company entered voluntary liquidation last year.

Both cases stem from an HMRC investigation into potential violations of export restrictions.

The UK's Department for International Trade introduced a prohibition on luxury goods exports exceeding £250 to Russia in April 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine.

Judge Tony Baumgartner has scheduled a provisional trial date of January 10 2028, with proceedings expected to last up to ten days.
