A royal expert has claimed that support for the monarchy is dwindling amongst the younger generation within the UK.
This is due to a a recent YouGov survey commissioned by the BBC's Panorama that said only 32 percent of people aged 18-24 think Britain should continue to have a monarchy compared to 67 percent of 50-64 year olds.
Former BBC royal correspondent Michael Cole told GBNews: "In this country, which we're lucky enough to live in a constitutional monarchy, where the king signs off the laws.
"A bill does not become a statute until he signs it. And I believe that that is one of the best defences we've ever had against extremism and dictatorship in this country."

"Younger people are not so keen on the on the Royal Family. I know that I took part in a debate at Exeter University recently in favour of the the the monarchy and lost."
LGBT campaigner Peter Tatchell agreed and added: "This survey being conducted indicates that there are worries within high echelons, both within the government and the royal family, that the monarchy is losing support.
"And that is true. Our successive polls over recent years have showed a slow but steady decline in support for the monarchy.

"More than a third now say that Britain should have an elected head of state, a democratic elected head of state chosen by the people for a fixed term and removal by the people if they fail to do their job.
"So clearly this is a PR exercise designed to find out what the public thinks and then hopefully in the in the eyes of the Royal Family and the Government to fix it to shore up support."
However activist and campaigner Femi Nylander hit out at the royals. He said: "Monarchy is basically a legacy of when the UK was run by dictatorships. Henry the Eighth was a dictator.
"All of the monarchs who precedes him were dictators. These were people who had absolute power and were not elected, So to say that monarchy, which is basically a relic of absolute dictatorship, when supposedly we were less developed and civilised."

"It is absurd that people are bowing to someone because of who his dad was and who his granddad is.]
"That gives you no standing as to being able to run a country."
