King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark captivated royal watchers with a heartwarming display of affection during their balcony appearance at Amalienborg Palace yesterday, as they celebrated the King's 57th birthday.
The royal couple appeared unable to take their eyes off each other as they greeted well-wishers who had gathered outside the palace for the special occasion.
The balcony of Frederik VIII's Palace became a stage for the couple's affection, with cameras capturing moments when the King and Queen stole loving glances at one another.
After standing on the balcony solo to initially greet the crowd, King Frederik was joined by Queen Mary, with the couple warmly intertwining their arms around each other.

Even as they waved to gathered well-wishers with their free hands, Mary and Frederik clung to one another with their other arms, repeatedly sharing intimate looks.
The balcony appearance was a family affair, with Princess Isabella, 18, and 14-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine joining their parents to celebrate the King's birthday.
Former monarch Queen Margrethe, 85, was also present for the occasion, with her inclusion considered especially significant by Danish royal fans given her recent hospitalisation for a cold.
The couple's eldest son, Crown Prince Christian, was noticeably absent from the celebrations due to his military service commitments.

The 19-year-old royal is currently enrolled in military training with the Guard Hussar Regiment and was recently admitted to the Lieutenant's Training Course.
The king and queen coordinated their outfits perfectly for the occasion. King Frederik opted for a dapper navy tailored three-piece suit with a dark red tie, whilst Queen Mary, 53, wore a complementary teal blue dress coat cinched at the waist.
According to Danish media, Mary's elegant ensemble was designed by Danish fashion designer Soeren Le Schmidt and was accessorised with a glamorous Ole Lynggaard brooch.
One of the royal family's pet dogs also made a surprise appearance on the balcony during the celebrations.

Celebrating the appearance, the official Instagram account for the Danish royals wrote: "When the clock struck 12:00, the birthday boy of the day, His Majesty the King, stepped onto the balcony of Frederik VIII's Palace in Amalienborg and waved to the crowd at the castle square along with his family."
"It is an old tradition that the regent is celebrated on his birthday with a balcony scene in connection with the grand changing of the guard - so it is today on the King's 57th birthday," they wrote.
The happy scenes between Mary and Frederik will be a welcome sight for royal fans after the couple were forced to spend their 21st wedding anniversary apart.
Denmark's king and queen put their royal duties fist as they attended separate engagements scheduled on their special day.
