The Pope is due to leave the Principality at the end of the day, departing from Monaco Heliport this evening.
Pope Leo XIV was elected as the 267th head of the Catholic Church on May 8, 2025, becoming the first American-born pope and the first Augustinian to hold the position.
The election for the new Pope lasted approximately 33 hours in a quick, two-day process.
The 133 cardinal electors quickly held a conclave and chose the new pope on the fourth ballot during the second day.
